Mildred Roderick, 90, Bristol

Mildred Helena (O’Rourke) Roderick, 90, of St. Elizabeth Manor passed away on March 23. She was the wife of the late Manuel F. Roderick.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (McCusker) O’Rourke. She was the mother of William Roderick and Lydia Goodwin; grandmother of Wendy Botelho, Kimberly Ramsay, Alexis Goodwin and Nathan August; and great grandmother of Ashley Ramsay, Kiley Ramsay, Cameron Botelho, Kelsey Botelho, Christopher Botelho and Aaron August. She was the sister of the late Thomas O’Rourke, Alice Kelly and William Kelly.

Her funeral services were held March 26 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Luis Garcia at St. Elizabeth Church. The offertory gifts were presented by Wendy Roderick and Alexis Goodwin. The eulogy was given by Kim Ramsay. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were John E. Almeida, John Coccio, Sean Ramsay, Paul Botelho, Christopher Botelho and Nathan August.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
