EAST PROVIDENCE — A group of Metacomet Country Club members are suing the current owners of the club, including former PGA Tour professional and Barrington native Brad Faxon, for fraud as it pertains to plans to potentially sell the Veterans Memorial Parkway property to a local developer.

Golocal.com was first to report the filing in Rhode Island Superior Court on Monday, March 9. The website noted the members filed the suit for “fraud, breach of contract, misrepresentation and other charges” against Mr. Faxon and the entire Metacomet Property Company LLC along with Marshall Development, which two weeks ago announced the parties had entered into a purchase and sales agreement for the club.

The sides did not disclose a sale price. Metacomet Property Company LLC bought the 138.27-acre parcel from membership back in early 2019 for a reported amount of $2.2 million.

The suit was filed on behalf of members Joseph J. Rodgers III, Kekin A. Shah, William G. Cioffi, Dean E. Martins, Mark Welch, Louis Freselone, Scott Desilets and Jason Kalin.
