Marylou (Gagnon) Conley, 79, of Warren, RI, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of the late Deacon James Edward Conley.

Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Henry C. and Gertrude (Hanley) Gagnon. Mrs. Conley was a communicant of St. Mary of the Bay Church in Warren. For many years, she had been a leader in the RCIA at the church with her husband, Deacon Jim. They were also the co-founders of the House of Judah Prayer Group at the church. She was an avid reader.

She is survived by three sons, James E. Conley Jr. of Warren, RI, Henry C. Conley and his wife Debra of Warren, RI, and Bryan T. Conley and his wife Claudia of Bristol, RI; one daughter, Michaela Balasco and her husband Steven of Warren, RI; 10 grandchildren, Brittany Souza and her husband Charles, Ian Conley and his wife Jennifer, Robert J. Larisa III and his wife Amanda, Craig Larisa SSgt., and his wife Alexandra, Christian Balasco, Julia Balasco, Jake M. Conley, Taylor E. Conley, Zachary L. Conley and David S. Conley; and eight great-grandchildren, Hailee Corriveau, Aiden Larisa, Ava Larisa, Jayden Larisa, Wyatt Larisa, Elias Conley, Connor Souza and Naliyah Souza.

Funeral services and burial will be private at this time. A Mass and Celebration of Life will be will held at a later date.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
