Mary (Pimental) Carinha, 104, of Silver Creek Manor and formerly of Center Street, passed away on Dec. 28, 2018, at Silver Creek Manor. She was the wife of the late Antonio Soares Carinha, Sr. Born in Sta. Barbara Da Ribeira Grande, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria Jose (Moniz) Pimental.
She is survived by her children, Antonio S. Carinha, Jr., George Carinha and his wife Suzanne, Rosemary Carinha Oliveira and her husband Edgardo, all of Bristol, and a daughter-in-law, Angela Carinha of East Providence; grandchildren Beth Whitten, Barry S. Carinha, Jennifer Mancieri, Linda Correia, Nancy Carinha and Joel Carinha; and great-grandchildren Hugh Whitten, Chet Whitten, Jake Mancieri, Adele Correia, Tessa Correia, Bryn Correia, Christopher Gomes, Anivia Carinha and Mathew Botelho. She was the mother of the late Irene Carinha and Joseph S. Carinha and sister of Cecilia Lopes, John Pimental and Joseph Pimental.
Mrs. Carinha was educated in Bristol and was a homemaker, caring for her family as her full-time job.
Her funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 4, at 9 a.m., from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., with a Mass of Christian burial, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
