Mark A. Pereira, 64, Fall River

Mark A. Pereira, age 64, of Fall River, died peacefully at home on October 27, 2020, after a battle with cancer with his loving family by his side. He was the son of Manuel and Helen Pereira.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his three children, Kraig Pereira of New Hampshire, Brandon Pereira and Elisha Pereira, both of Fall River; two grandsons, Bayne and John; and a great-granddaughter, Zariah; siblings, Jane Souza (husband Charlie) of Fall River, Monica Pereira (husband Sam) of Little Compton, and Susan Soares; and will be lovingly remembered by his many nephews. He was also the brother of the late Gregory Pereira.

Private funeral arrangements were under the direction of Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St. Fall River. www.rogersfuneral.com.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
