Maria Dos Anjos Amaral

Maria Dos Anjos (Machado) Amaral, 82, passed away on Jan. 30, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Manor. She was the wife of the late Jose Pimental Amaral.

Born in Feteiras do Sul, St. Michael, she was the daughter of the late Jose de Rego and Maria daConceicao Machado.

She is survived by her children, Zelia Caetano and her husband John, Natalie Calouro, Linda Pacheco and her husband Carlos, Ana Sayles and Maria Reynolds and her husband Bob. She was the grandmother of Kevin Caetano, Jason Caetano, Andrea Calouro, Shawn Calouro, Stephanie Pacheco, Jennifer Carmone, Billy Sayles, Brian Sayles, Bobby Reynolds, Joey Reynolds and Elizabeth Reynolds, and great-grandmother of Chace, Caden and Matthew Caetano.

Mrs. Amaral was educated in Portugal and employed by American Tourister and I. Shalom before retiring.

Her funeral services were held Febr. 2 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Elizabeth’s Church. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
