Margaret “Peggy” Scott Pereira, 76, of Warren, RI passed away peacefully with her family after a short battle with cancer, on February 12, 2021 at Hope Hospice in Providence.

Born in Fall River, Massachusetts she was the daughter of the late David and Lillian Forgue Scott. She is survived by her sister Susan Scott Lema of Warren, her nieces Donna Leger of Bristol, Jennifer Patullo of Warren, her nephew John Lema of Somerset, Massachusetts, their children Michael, Sarah and Daniel Leger, Ryan Patullo, Ty, Cole and Rex Lema. She also leaves behind her lifelong best friend Mary Jane Labao and her goddaughters Lynn Mahoney and Cindy Labao.

Peggy attended St Jean-Baptiste School, Warren High School Class of 1962, and earned her Associate Degree at CCRI. She was a long-term employee of American Tourister and later a travel agent at Resolutions Travel. An active member of St Elizabeth’s Church in Bristol, she was the former President of St Vincent De Paul Society for 10 years where she presided over the food pantry. She was also a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality, volunteered at the Annual Christmas Bazaar and the Columbian Father’s Bazaar.

Peggy enjoyed traveling, gardening, tending to her bird feeders, decorating for the holidays, shopping trips, and participating in activities at the Warren Senior Center. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol, RI at a time soon to be confirmed. Burial to follow at South Burial Ground, Warren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday February 20th at 11:00am in St Elizabeth Church 577 Wood Street Bristol. Burial to follow at South Burial Ground, Warren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of St Elizabeth’s-Parish Outreach and Assistance (Food Pantry) or St Elizabeth’s Holy Rosary Sodality. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
