Manuel Charles “Charlie” Sousa, 67, of Bristol

Manuel Charles “Charlie” Sousa, 67, of Broadcommon Road passed away on Aug. 5, 2019, at Rhode Island Hospital.

Born in Fall River, Mass., he was the son of the late Manuel and Lucinda (Toste) Sousa. He was the significant other of Linda Serbst and nephew of Sarah Amaral of Bristol and Virginia Chauvin of East Providence.

Mr. Sousa was a graduate of Bristol High School and employed by AGI Construction as the Superintendent for gas line installations.

His funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., Bristol. Burial will be private.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
