Man steals from Barrington church's collection plate

Police describe suspect: Missing teeth, walks with a limp

Posted

The pastor at Sts. Matthew and Mark Church on Chapel Road in Barrington contacted police on Sunday, Sept. 8 after someone allegedly stole all the money from the collection plate.

The pastor told police that a man who was missing some of his teeth, walked with a limp, and was wearing a navy blue track suit was likely to blame for the theft.

The pastor said the man attended this Sunday's service at about 10 a.m., introduced himself as "Dave" and asked congregation members for money; some of those at the service obliged and gave "Dave" some cash.

Then, following the coffee hour (which Dave also attended), church officials discovered that money collected during the service was missing.
