Mabel Etta (Reid) Wood, 93, of Main Road, Tiverton, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, August 16, 2019.  She was the wife of the late Thomas Alton Wood.

Born August 5, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Herbert B. Reid and Mary C. (Broderick) Reid of Wingold Street in Fall River. A graduate of Durfee High School, class of 1944, she worked for United Merchants in the accounting department before leaving to start her family. She married Thomas Alton Wood of Tiverton in 1947 after he returned home from World War II.

Her commitment to her church, St. Christopher's Parish in Tiverton, and the causes she believed in, were a constant throughout her entire life. She will be remembered for her deep curiosity about current events and what was happening both in her community and around the world.

Mrs. Wood is survived by two sisters, Elinor Costa of Dighton, Mass., and Mildred Boyd of Fall River.  She was the sister of the late Dorothy Watson, Mary Williams, Robert Reid, Herbert Reid, Walter Reid, and James Reid.

Wood of Tiverton, and Peter B. Wood of Tiverton; two daughters, Kathleen M. Hathaway of Tiverton and Barbara I. Hastie of Fall River; 19 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, from 9-10:30 a.m., prior to the Mass.
