M. Jane Mello (Motta), 76, passed away on Sept. 7, 2020, with her devoted husband Charlie by her side. Jane was born Sept. 25, 1943, in Bristol, R.I., to Manuel and Mary Motta. She was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1961.
Jane is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Charles J. Mello, and her children, Charles J. Mello Jr., and his girlfriend Debra of Bristol, Kris Mello (Carlone) of Bristol, and Mark C. Mello and his wife Nicole of Port St. Lucie, Fla., as well as five grandchildren, Mark Mello Jr., Jeremey Mello, Nicholas Mello, Anthony Carlone and Allisa Carlone, and six great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brothers, Earl Motta and Roger Motta, both of Warner Robbins, Ga., Robert Motta of Bristol, R.I., and MaryJean Motta and Raymond Motta of Tampa, Fla.
Jane worked as a doctor’s assistant at the Bristol County Medical Center until her battle with the debilitating disease of rheumatoid arthritis left her disabled.
Jane was a member of New Hope Christian Church, Swansea, Mass., where she was a member of the choir for many years. With her choir, Jane fulfilled a lifelong dream and sang on a float in the Bristol Fourth of July Parade.
In 2013, Jane and Charlie moved to Jensen Beach, Fla., on Hutchinson Island, where they enjoyed a close community of friends. While there, Jane enjoyed playing Bingo, Rummikub and Mahjong. She also loved hunting for sea shells, which she turned into unique crafts, sharing her passion with her grandchildren.
Jane is now at peace and resides in a mansion in Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She will always be in our hearts and greatly missed.
