Lucas M. Bandoni, 19, Tiverton

Our beautiful son, Lucas Miller Bandoni, of Tiverton, took his own life on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, in Portsmouth. He was 19 years old.

Lucas was born in Providence, RI in 1996. He attended The Pennfield School in Portsmouth, and graduated in the class of '15 at Portsmouth Abbey School.

For those who you knew and loved Luc, he had a dry sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. While his humor was lost on some, for those who got it, he was a joy. He aspired to be a stand-up comedian or comedy writer — especially enjoyed people like Larry David, Dan Harmon, Chris Gethard.

Luc was also a voracious reader, delving into works such as Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and On the Road by Jack Kerouac. He loved poetry and the classics.

Luc was a sensitive, kind, intelligent young man. He was a natural-born helper and an excellent listener. He was a philosophical thinker and liked to ponder the bigger things in life. He didn’t like small talk — didn’t know how to do it and felt it a waste of time.

His friends knew him as the one who took care of them.

Besides his loving parents, Thomas J and Christine Miller Bandoni, he leaves his brothers, Adrian Bandoni of Walpole, Mass., and Tristan Bandoni of Charlotte, NC; and his sister, Alexandra Bandoni of Brooklyn, NY; his grandfather, Donald G. Bandoni of Norwood, Mass.; his uncle and aunt, John and Carolyn Miller of Westfield, NJ; and extended family members and friends.

He was the grandson of the late Pauline F. Bandoni, H. Patricia Miller and John R. Miller.

Luc will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He was the kind of young man that anyone would be proud to call son, brother, grandson, and friend.

His memorial service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 11:45 a.m., Portsmouth Abbey School, 285 Corys Lane, Portsmouth. The service is outdoors; please come as you are, no black please. Reception to follow — picnic on the lawn — bring a blanket or beach chair.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, RI ChapterThe Greenlove Foundation, Matty Fund, or any charity of your choosing.
