Louis C. Boughton of Bristol died Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances M. (Wilczak) Boughton. Born in White Plains, N.Y., he was a son of the late Louis and Vera Boughton.
He retired at the rank of LCDR from the U.S. Navy after 27 years of service. After his military service, he went on to become a Merchant Seaman, retiring after 20 years as Captain of the M/V Cape Henry, a 749-foot MSC ship. He was a resident of Bristol for 40 years.
He is survived by a sister, Carol Brideau of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; daughters Kimberly Ford of Middletown, Tracy Boughton of Warwick, and Terry Williams of Cranston; sons Kevin Boughton of Rockland, Maine, and Shannon Boughton, Ryan Boughton and Colin Boughton, all of Bristol. He was also the loving grandfather of 11, great-grandfather of four and also leaves several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. in the SMITH FUNERAL and MEMORIAL SERVICES, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. Burial with Military Honors will be in the North Burial Ground Bristol.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Monday from 4-8 p.m.
