Barrington Books presents a reading and signing with local author Denise Panichas and illustrator Denise Augeer this Saturday, March 15, at 1 p.m. for the release of their picture book, “The Befriending Tree and the Bunny.”

“Sometimes we all need someone to listen.” The book is an enchanting tale that will capture the hearts of children and adults alike. Follow the journey of a little bunny, who, feeling left out and confused, finds solace and wisdom in the Befriending Tree. Through the Befriending Tree’s gentle, nonjudgmental listening, the bunny learns that it’s okay to seek help and that the dreams of a bright, hopeful future are within reach.

The tale highlights the importance of finding a trusted loved one or friend and demonstrates how a simple act of listening can transform lives. It’s more than just a story; it's a message of love, support, and the strength found in connection

The book is dedicated to the Samaritans and Befriender volunteers in Rhode Island and around the world. The author and illustrator will make a donation from the net proceeds of each sale from The Barrington Book store to The Samaritans of Rhode Island – Youth and Teen Education Outreach. No portion of this donation will benefit the administration or staff of The Samaritans.
