To the editor:

When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” This saying exemplifies the people who staff essential businesses which have remained open during the onslaught of the coronavirus epidemic. 

Lees Market is the epitome of selflessness, with its employees reporting to work, knowing full well they will be exposing themselves to possible infection of the virus. 

What particularly amazes me is their attitude: upbeat, friendly, and sincere in their efforts to be helpful. It's comforting knowing the management team is dedicated to keeping the shelves stocked as much as possible so that we can have sufficient food and household supplies at home during this critical period.

I've been a Lees customer for many years. In numerous ways, it's like visiting family, being greeted with smiles, hellos, and offers of assistance. I'm sure that when this epidemic passes, Lees 'family' of customers will have expanded considerably.

Thanks, Lees Market, for being there for us. 

Thanks, also, to the many health care workers who expose themselves to the virus while treating patients. It is impossible to imagine the condition we would be in without their dedication to the well being of others.
