Letter: Wilbur & McMahon School celebrates new Peckham Music Room

To the editor:

Wilbur & McMahon School has a wonderful new music room in the Library Media Center. On November 17, the school had a dedication ceremony, the room was unveiled and named the Virginia Peckham Music Room in honor of Little Compton resident Virginia Peckham.

Ms. Peckham generously donated the funds to make this possible. Ms. Peckham is a lover of all things cultural, art, literature and music. It was her vision that made this wonderful new space possible.

The dedication ceremony was beautiful. In attendance were the school committee, school administration, student ambassadors and the chorus. The chorus performed for the event and student ambassadors spoke.

Ms. Peckham spoke of her love of Little Compton and her fond memories of Wilbur & McMahon School. Ms. Peckham wanted to share her love of music with the school community and to give students and teachers a place to listen to and enjoy all types of music.

Wilbur & McMahon is a wonderful place for learning and this music room will just enhance the experience children will encounter at school.

Thank you, Virginia Peckham.
