Letter: What would Clement Clark Moore write? Maybe this

Posted

To the editor:

T'was the night before Christmas and all through the night,

Sat Larry Ashley disparately trying to write.

All snuggled up with his pen in hand,

He struggles with things he can't understand.

To bribe public workers is OK for them

Because that is something that benefits him.

He scratches his head, looks up in the air

Hoping an idea would soon be there.

Suddenly inspired he jumps up to dance

He'll start his letter in green yoga pants.

On Larry, On Larry! He writes with great speed

About all kinds of things no one wants to read.

Determined and ready he clutches his pen

Authors a story that seems to never end.

All through the house from corner to corner

His rambling rant is a real a yawner.

We all pay taxes, we don't have to give

Bribes to our town, that's no way to live.

Be honest and fair, not greedy as sin.

We'll all go to Dickens if we listen to him.

Short and sweet,

Alan Sorrentino
