Letter: Water board had roundabout plans all along

To the editor:

As many of you may recall, one of the very contentious issues with regard to the proposed roundabout at East Main Road and Turnpike Avenue was the contention that the Department of Transportation had not been forthcoming with the plans so that the public might review.

This was a grave concern to many people who spoke at the public hearing on the matter. I would note that it was a particular concern to councilman David Gleason and to Mr. Thomas Grieb, and I further note that Mr. Philip Driscoll spoke at the public hearing.

I mentioned each of them specifically because Mr. Driscoll has now related that the plans for the roundabout were at all time freely available at the Portsmouth Water and Fire District (PWFD).

I would note that Mr. Gleason, Mr. Grieb and Mr. Driscoll are on the (PWFD) board and that they all testified at the public hearing. None of them mentioned the fact to the listening public that their concerns with regard to the plans could be satisfied by just dropping by the Water and Fire District. Hmmm.
