Letter: Vote yes on question 3 for affordable housing

Posted

To the editor:

On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, Rhode Islanders will have the opportunity to vote in a special election to approve a set of bonds. The Little Compton Housing Trust encourages our community to vote "yes" on question #3 "Housing and Community Opportunity."

This item would allot $65 million to increase available funds to support housing affordability and community revitalization through redevelopment, construction, and property acquisition for affordable housing statewide. This essential funding would help communities across Rhode Island invest in meaningful work to increase housing affordability and support long term community sustainability and diversity.

Voters can vote by mail, early in person, or at our polling places on or before Tuesday March 2nd, 2021.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
