Letter: TTA continues to show disdain for others

To the editor:

After the Recall Election, I thought we arrived at an inflection point that would encourage the TTA to be collaborative.  Wrong!  They continue acting like they are the smartest people in the room with disdain for everyone else.

Here are some recent examples.

Recently,  Mr. Coulter  wrote that the attorneys causing the Leger Lane zoning debacle and not taxpayers should pay legal expenses.  The town was notified in November, 2018, just when Mr. Coulter was seated.  I don’t recall him saying this while council president. Now he blames others for inaction on his part.

In December, Mrs Cook protested that the Recycling Center was approved in August and a vote was unnecessary.  At approximately 1:35:00 of the  August 13 meeting, Mr Katz made a motion changing the wording to “Drop off by residents or pickup by the Contractor” in response to a request by the administrator. There was no approval.  Mrs. Cook has to go back and review the video she was in.

Mr. Katz criticized a brand of nastiness directed toward one of his associates. Overt nastiness is on both sides; however when the TTA engage in this, Mr. Katz refuses to acknowledge.  Recently, I have noticed a more subtle nastiness used by TTA members.  Whenever they criticize the Town Council President, Mrs Hilton,  they refer to her derisively as Replacement President.

Recently Mr. Katz started another suit.  It reminded me of his response when asked why he was always suing the town.  I will paraphrase his response.  “When  the Town stops doing things that cause us to sue, then we won’t sue, The corollary to that is …  When the TTA stops doing things that we oppose, then we’ll stop opposing the TTA.

Mr. Rom thinks the Town Council should be more involved in operations. I’ll remind him that the Town Council functions just like Boards of Directors for businesses. They set strategy and policy.  As a matter of fact, only about 10% of board members fully understand the business of the board they serve on and have little insight into the operations.

I’ll close with the following. Mr. Katz and Mr. Coulter are #recalledCouncilors Katz and Coulter forever. (cr. N.Pelosi)
