To the editor:
I am writing because a water main was broken on Old Colony here in North Tiverton late yesterday afternoon during construction of the sewers. As a result, those of us who live in the area had brown water late into the evening. (My water is still kind of light yellow color.)
I called the North Tiverton Fire District after hours and someone called me back. He said not to run hot water, he wouldn't drink the water although it was "probably" okay.
Really? Why did no one inform any of the residents in the area that it might not be safe to drink the water? I noticed the problem in my toilet. Running the water to wash vegetables — you would not see it.
Is the water now safe to drink? Who knows? No one has been in touch with us. The only reason I know anything is because I called.
