On June 24, Friends of the Tiverton Libraries held the most successful — to-date — Annual Book Sale. Over 100 volunteers participated. Many local organizations and vendors lent their support to this community-wide effort. Those leading the way were Coastal Roasters, Tiverton Lions Club and Saint Christopher’s Church.

The Book Sale is held each year to encourage literacy and library use. This effort is presented to encourage a love of reading, especially in children.

The Friends will use all the proceeds from the sale to support the 2017 Summer Reading Programs at the Tiverton Public Library. The programs, titled “Build a Better World,” are offered to children including babies, toddlers and children entering grades K-5. This program runs from June 29 to August 9.

The Teen Program is offered to children entering grades 6-12. This program runs from June 26 – August 25.

In addition there is a program for all adults The Friends believe that this is one of the effective ways of putting books in the hands of all. For additional information on these programs call the library at 625-6796 or visit www.tivertonlibrary.org.
