Tiverton has been most responsive to litter, access issues
To the editor:
We moved to Tiverton a little less than two years ago and I have been extremely impressed and pleased with how accessible and responsive both Jan Reitsma, the Tiverton town administrator, and Rick Rogers, the head of DPW have been.
I, along with others, have raised a couple of issues, both of them regarding reducing some of the litter on our town beaches along with maintaining a right of way between the Boathouse Restaurant and Riverside Drive.
Mr Reitsma took the time to meet with me on both of these issues and also went out of his way to connect me with the right resources including the Tiverton Litter Committee and Mr. Rogers to help address my concerns.
Mr Rogers also met with me, and he and DPW were incredibly responsive in clearing out and addressing the drainage problem with pipes and gravel on the right of way creating a passable pathway connecting the Boathouse Restaurant pathway to Riverside Drive. The result of this was to restore the connection between the two segments to complete and extend the scenic walk along the Sakonnet River waterfront.
Also due to the large effort of the town through its administration, DPW, and the Parks and Recreation Department, along with that of volunteers such as the Tiverton Litter Committee and individuals picking up after themselves and others, there is a lot being done through multiple venues to keep our town such a beautiful place to live and enjoy!
As relatively new residents, we are extremely grateful for and impressed by all those responsible for maintaining Tiverton and expanding it’s resources for all of us to share!
