Letter: Tiverton DPW takes good care of our neighborhood

To the editor:

I would like to acknowledge and thank the Tiverton Department of Public Works (DPW) for their work in the Bay Street neighborhood.

This neighborhood is in the north end of Tiverton, west of Main Road down below the hill. It is a high traffic area along Bay and Judson streets and is considered a dump area for TV’s, freezers, tires and general garbage.

The neighborhood cleans the general garbage but the large items are quickly picked up by the DPW when we place a call. Most recently there was a safety issue in which a hazard condition existed on the pathway to the beach where children could fall and hurt themselves. Erosion from drain water caused holes along the pathway.

A call was placed to the DPW and now this pathway is not only safe but also well groomed.

Also, living on the bottom of a hill can be treacherous in the winter. Our roads are quickly sanded and cleaned of snow which makes it safer for us to travel.

Thanks again to the Tiverton’s DPW for their help and support in keeping our area safe and clean."
