Letter: Tiverton Days, when our community shines

To the editor:

The Tiverton Days Committee, along with the Town of Tiverton, is pleased to announce that Tiverton's community-wide celebration, Tiverton Days, will take place this year on July 28-30.

Those that live in Tiverton are often surprised when a visitor comments on our town’s beauty and diverse offerings. Tiverton Days is not only a time to celebrate, but to appreciate our community and extend a welcoming hand to everyone near and far.

From Friday evening’s bonfire, music, food and Tiverton Yacht Club lighted flotilla, then Saturday morning’s parade leading into the evening’s children's and family activities, to Sunday morning yoga and the Tiverton Fire Departments open house, all of Tiverton will have an opportunity to shine.

For more information on how you can get involved or sponsor Tiverton Days, please send an email to tivertoncelebrates@gmail.com.

To learn more about upcoming events, please visit our Facebook page Tiverton-Celebrates Tiverton Days, or visit our www.tivertondays.org

All are invited to "shine" with Tiverton this July, as we celebrate all facets of our community together.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
