This year we skipped the parade and spent the day at home along with many others. Our sincere apologies to our greatly esteemed chief marshal, Suzanne Magaziner, and her entourage, but the pandemic ruled the day.
In exchange, we were poorly entertained by the President tempting fate by sending a completely racist and xenophobic message out from the Black Hills in South Dakota, with no black people present. It is left to us to assume that this was actually an inadvertent re-enactment of Custer’s Last Stand, with the Oglala Sioux, caretakers of the land, unfortunately barred from attendance.
Nevertheless, we enjoyed the show and we will treasure the irony of his irreverence for dead past Presidents, for murdered American Natives and enlisted soldiers, and his evident lack of respect for our own citizens who are dying by the tens of thousands, until November when he and his family are forced out of the White House.
