Letter: South Lake Drive is cleaner when it’s closed

I am aware that for some folks who can only drive to experience the views along South Lake Drive, the closure of the road may be a loss. Still, the reality for me is that the perception of the road is spoiled by daily dumping and litter. Included is a picture of a typical day’s worth of trash collected prior to the closure. Since the closure, I haven’t picked up a single beer can, wine or whisky bottle … what does this mean for the safety of the roads in this neighborhood? I support this road closure and believe the open space will be a benefit for most folks, to walk, bike, view wildlife and fish. Or just parking and sitting at the edge of the lake.
