Letter: Softer police lights would still get the job done
I happened to read the recent Bristol Phoenix article announcing the Bristol Police Department’s acquisition of new patrol vehicles. It reminded me that each time I come upon one of these vehicles with their lights all ablaze, my first thought is that it can be only one of two things — either a NASA launch or a Neil Diamond concert.
I would no doubt be in the throes of shock and awe if not for the fact that I am momentarily blinded by the fusillade of atomic strobes, spots, sparklers and flashers. It’s as though I’ve been hit by an optical stun gun.
I usually pull over and close my eyes to regain my vision. My suggestion to the fine men and women of all police departments would be to take a couple of bulbs out.
Believe me, we would still see you.
