To the editor:
Is it just me, or has the entire state of Rhode Island been turned into one massive, never-ending obstacle course? I’d try to map out a route from my house to the grocery store, but at this point I’d have better luck drawing it with a crayon and a blindfold.
Everywhere you turn, it’s orange barrels, detour signs, and six guys leaning on a shovel. You got cones stretching for miles, trucks parked sideways, entire lanes blocked off with no visible work being done.
And here’s the kicker: they wait until summer. That’s right. Not the crisp and manageable months of fall or spring, but the exact time when people are trying to get to the beach, see family, or just get out of the damn house without needing a GPS, a prayer, and a pack of granola bars for the journey.
Let me be clear: I’m all for infrastructure. Fix the roads. Fill the potholes. But for the love of all things holy and paved, can we have a plan? Or a schedule? Or one single stretch of uninterrupted road between here and the state line?
This isn’t progress. This is hostage-taking — with a jackhammer.
