Letter: Proud to work on Portsmouth comprehensive plan

To the editor:

The Portsmouth Comprehensive Community Plan (PCCP) is the town’s primary policy document used in planning and decision making by local officials.

The PCCP provides a long-range view of how we want our town to look and function. This is the legal basis for our zoning ordinance and other land use controls, defined by the redevelopment plan of 2007.

As the founding leader of Preserve Portsmouth and an engaged citizen on various land-use topics or “crises” in our town, I jumped at the opportunity to participate with other citizens in the current review process of this significant document.

I am proud at this time to be a member of this diverse and perhaps polarized group and despite the local scuttlebutt, also proud to report that in a short time we have broken down our own walls to work together in building consensus on important visionary issues for our town.
