To the editor,
Thank you to the voters that recently supported me for another three-year term as treasurer of the Portsmouth Water and Fire District. I will try to validate your confidence.
For those that voted for my opponent — what were you thinking? I hope in the next three years I can gain your approval by my actions.
This election made it abundantly clear to me that the Republican Party in Portsmouth has a major problem. It has been hijacked by radical activists. Middle-of-the-road views are scorned. They have a fixation with a budget number and not with what the town needs. Considerations for education, health and safety take second place to a budget rate.
These activists take a know-it-all stance when in reality they know nothing. They look for the gotcha moment. Time is spent and lost on conspiracy theories which could be put to important issues.
Our town has polite people that let them have their say over and over often listening to their insulting comments. The town is suffering due to these activists.
For these reasons, I am changing my affiliation from Republican to Democrat and urge others that are of similar opinion to act now.
Thank you.
