Letter: Our schools and community need to focus on the future

Posted

Our school system has encountered some big challenges of late. We have reached this point over time, not overnight. The corrections will take time and effort, as well.

We have elected a talented, able and focused committee who seem to have the right priorities in mind. The first priority must be ensuring a safe environment for every child. Nothing is more important. Next on the list is grappling with providing the best education possible to those children within the limits of what is available to us.

These goals will take not only the leadership of the committee but the support and efforts of everyone; administration, faculty, staff, and parents.

If we put aside the blaming, and focus on all working together to get this job done, I have no doubt it will happen. It won’t be easy, but our kids are worth the effort. Let’s show them by our example how to overcome adversity and make positive change.
