To the editor:
In regards to the alleged racially provoked assault on Mr. Pahlavi that have resulted in charges against Richard Gordon, Ms. Pahlavi stipulated that her family had been previously subject to “microaggressions” citing neighbors parking on and walking upon various parts of their property despite requests to curtail these activities. While I deplore the term since it seems more appropriate to overly timid snowflakes these are not microagressions. Criminal trespass after suitable warning is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year in prison, up to a $1,000 fine or both ( RIGL 11-44-26). Barringtonians should not have to tolerate this type of behavior whether from hostile neighbors or any other person. While we cannot tie up the police every time someone crosses our yard in a situation such as this, with repeated provocation, the police should be involved lest events culminate in a more serious altercation. It is best that the bad actors among us be known to the local authorities. While we don’t want to be the “boy who cried wolf” neither do we want to be victimized.
