Letter: Make your voice heard on Settlers Green situation

To the editor:
Fellow citizens of Warren, we need you! The massive Settler’s Green development proposal will be returning to the Warren Planning Board for a Public Hearing on Monday, January 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Council Chambers.

Last spring, the RI Superior Court reversed the town’s denial of the proposed two 4-story apartment buildings with 108 units, plus 12 houses, parking lots for 200 cars, and two huge drainage pits. All of this would be packed into 10 acres in East Warren’s quiet farming neighborhood on Kinnicutt Ave, right next to beautiful Frerichs Farm.

This land has been continuously farmed since Roger Kinnicutt purchased it from John Brown in 1680! The current plans can be seen at this link- https://www.townofwarren-ri.gov/5.%20 Plan Set (Prelim. Plan).pdf

The approval of this application would be a disaster for the environment, traffic and scenery in this area. It would also set a dangerous precedent for future developments in our small town.

Citizens of Warren, please attend this Public Hearing to voice your concerns about this inappropriate development in our beautiful town!

In solidarity,
David Oliveira, President
Warren Citizens for Appropriate Development
