Letter: Local Boy Scouts did a great job

To the editor:

On Saturday, Nov. 2, a large grand group of Barrington Boy Scouts, their troop leaders and some of their parents packed the halls of Tap-In with armloads of non-perishable food items they had collected around town.  On behalf of everyone at Tap-In we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to them all!  Their energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to pitch in and deliver, sort and shelve over 3,600 pounds of groceries was a heartwarming sight to see. We also would like to thank the generous residents of Barrington who filled up bags, boxes and baskets and placed them in front of their doorways for the Scouts to collect.

This Boy Scout Food Drive is always the largest food drive for the RI Community Food Bank, and we can all be proud of the Barrington Scouts’ participation in this event. Special thanks to Scout Leader, Chris Bianco, for organizing the event, and to our Tap-In volunteers who joined in to help. Because of everyone’s efforts, the pantry shelves at Tap-In were filled to overflowing that day!

Sincerely,

Jo Rodehorst
