To the editor:
It was hopeful and refreshing to read the letter “We need a new school committee.” The authors were so right to encourage more of our community to become informed and involved in some form or way as to what happens in various town committees. And, it is important to how all of us will be able to continue to live in Barrington. A few people on a town committee or school system should never be allowed to change a town’s everyday existence without taking into account the entire community.
In thinking about filling positions on all town committees, it is hard to know what their real true positions on matters are when there is no clear view of a candidate’s real thoughts and perspectives except in writing. I think we all hope that any committee member would want to try to do the right thing for everyone in the community. And self importance has no place in any part of government.
