Given the crazy politics taking place on the national stage daily, it is refreshing to read about our local campaigns in these pages during this election season. I admire the energy and determination of these candidates looking to make a change. It takes a lot to put yourself out there – especially these first-timers who are on this year’s ballot.

I am particularly happy to see candidates in your “Candidates Statements” section who are coming to the table with new ideas — it keeps our town government fresh, the debate lively, and gives voters the option to choose to improve. We’ve seen enough of the entrenched political class in both the state and town government looking to keep things the same. I think it is time to shake things up.

So, to all our Bristol neighbors who have taken the plunge in a time when running and serving in elected office has become a challenge to say the least – I say good for you! Keep on fighting for the change you believe in out there on the campaign trail. As a resident of this town, I’m excited to have some choices this election year.
