Letter: Is the Barrington Republican party non-existent?

To the editor:

It is very disheartening to see no Republicans on the local Barrington ballot for the election this year.

It was not so long ago when one could not get elected to any post in Barrington if they ran as a Democrat. Nevertheless, the Democrats fielded a slate as the loyal opposition even if to no avail. Now, you cannot win unless running as a Democrat. Is the concept of "loyal opposition" gone completely in the Town of Barrington?  Is the Barrington Republican party non-existent? Wouldn't a viable two party system be most beneficial for the town?
