Letter: I'm optimistic about Bristol Warren's future

To the editor:

This year has been a difficult one for our school system and our community. Tensions between schools, teachers, administration, students and families ran high. Awareness of concerns within the Bristol-Warren Regional School District have increased and many, many people within our community have been working hard and continue to address them.

I am writing to express gratitude and appreciation. Thank you to Chair Erin Schofield and Vice-Chair Adam Ramos of the Bristol-Warren Regional School District for their leadership. Thank you to the entire School Committee: Brian Bradshaw, John Saviano, John Bento, Victor Cabral, Sheila Ellsworth, Marjorie McBride, and Carly Reich for your service and efforts to improve education in our community. Thank you for giving an immense amount of your time, knowledge, and passion to guide us through this challenging period.

Thank you to the teachers and staff who support our students from pre-k through graduation. Our teachers show-up every day pouring themselves into their work, their classroom, and their students. Thank you to the Bristol-Warren Education Association for your support of our beloved teachers and cooperation with the district.

Thank you to the unsung heroes of our Parent Teacher Organizations whose tireless, consistently-upbeat efforts support fundraising and enrichment for our students and families. Thank you to the dedicated, hardworking crew of the Bristol Warren Education Foundation for fostering innovation and creativity within our schools. Thank you to the parents, families, and community members who are engaged in the process and working toward a better future for Bristol-Warren schools.

I am optimistic about the opportunity we have in front of us. I am optimistic that families will continue to work with our schools and always strive for better. I am optimistic that teachers will feel heard and supported. I am optimistic that administration will value openness and collaboration. Onward and upward, Bristol-Warren – together.
