I applaud Brian Valcourt for his attempt to gain access for all Westport citizens to the beach and rock (Nubble) at the Harbor for those of us who do not live there.

I live in Westport Point, another beautiful section of town, but those of us who live here have passed no such restriction to it and do not hope to see any.

Years ago at a selectmen’s meeting when the same issue arose and I said that my family and friends had over the years enjoyed an occasional picnic there, I was accused of being part of the problem of littering! Needless to say, I was outraged that someone who did not know me would make such an assumption with no evidence — we always cleaned up after ourselves.

I recognize that the problem of parking is thorny, but there used to be some, and I would expect that the town could again manage a solution.

Thank you, Brian, for sticking up for all of us who have had to give up our visits to a lovely part of town.
