To the editor:
When a production of this size closes, it takes a few days for all the accomplishments to sink in and take hold of brilliance! Hair, produced at Tiverton High last week was nothing short of spectacular.
I could not be more proud of a group of young people, from grades 4-12, who took hold of a massive creative challenge and brought forth an extraordinary, historical event. The show was embraced by hundreds of people, from both Tiverton and our surrounding communities; the response was earth shattering, applauded, and will not long be forgotten.
I extend sincere thanks to the Tiverton High School Administration who stood behind this production, from start to finish, to Tams-Witmark who allowed us the creative room to stay true to the history of the show and still stay true to our goal of inviting an audience in without offending. Thanks to the numerous volunteers, musicians, theater goers and sponsors that were such a vital part of this collaboration.
Finally, I extend deep admiration and respect to my drama students who learned there will always be those who project their own fear onto those of us who embrace art, courage and the very soul to be who we are. We stand in the very center of our creative convictions with grace, strength, and authenticity. I am so very proud of the people you are and I know you are changing the world.
