While Bristol does have a long-term replacement street sign program underway, with the new, very popular, large lettered, red, white and blue colored street signs, it will be years before all the street signs in town are eventually replaced.
But, upon my encouragement and support, the Bristol Town Council created the “Bristol Resident Street Sign Request Program,” where, for a nominal fee of $100, you can move to the top of the waiting list for a new street sign. With the completion of a simple, one-page form (shown), submitted to the Bristol Department of Public Works and with their next order, your street sign will be produced and installed.
My goal is to have every road which intersects with Hope Street (a Rhode Island “Scenic Road”) be it along the parade route or not, have one of these beautifully designed new street signs installed and installed soon.
Maple Shade Court (see photo) is the first cross street on Hope Street, (from Warren), where visitors to Bristol will encounter the new patriotic street sign as they arrive.
