The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the cancellation or postponement of numerous cultural and social events.  And cabin fever is a real possibility.

What could be more welcome than an opportunity to spend some productive time outdoors and at a reasonable “social distance” from other participants?

The Warren Land Conservation Trust is looking for help in its effort to develop additional trails at its Haile Farm Preserve (off Market Street at the end of New Industrial Way). Previously marked trails need to be cleared to facilitate walking, and boardwalks are to be constructed in wet areas. This is all to the benefit of the community. Tools can be provided. It is advised to wear appropriate foot gear for wetter areas. Work periods are usually two to three hours long. Any work group will conform to all government advice and recommendations and social distancing protocols.

Scheduling is very flexible (weekdays or weekends) depending on the availability of volunteers.  Additionally, the WLCT is working on a method that would allow volunteers to do the needed trail work on an individual basis. If you are interested in helping, please email the WLCT at volunteerwlct@gmail.com indicating when you might be available or if you prefer to work as an individual.  Works days will be organized around this information.

Even if you are not able to volunteer, the WLCT invites you to take a walk at the Haile Farm Preserve to relieve potential cabin fever.  Information on this property, as well as the WLCT in general, can be found at www.warrenlct.org.
