Editor’s note: This letter was written in response to John Brady’s letter (“Trump’s no Boy Scout, but I’ll still be voting for him”) that was published in the Sept. 24 issue of The Portsmouth Times.
To the editor:
I imagine Arlene Violet's dislike of Trump, like those of us who do not support Trump, has less to do with the problems mentioned than with much bigger issues.
Trump has shown himself to be a liar and a bully — he makes fun of disabled people, insults vets, sexually assaults women. His lack of response to proposing solutions to the racial issues in our country is telling. The facts are there, his own words and video, for those who wish to see them. He seems to have no core values that I can respect. Everything he does seems to serve his ego and to try to profit himself.
He has not shown any leadership related to the Covid pandemic. If he would spend less time in his tanning bed, fixing the combover, golfing and watching Fox, and tried to educate himself on the issues instead, we would be better off.
He doesn’t seem to be very intelligent.
He shows himself to be petty and vindictive — undoing anything that has Obama's name on it. Another 4 years of him will allow him to keep destroying everything good about this country.
PS on the abortion issue: As a man who has never been pregnant, I can see how Mr. Brady would have trouble understanding the decisions that women are faced with. My life experience tells me that probably someone in his family has had an abortion, but he just doesn't know about it. Even those of us who support choice do not like abortions.
It would be helpful if men like Mr. Brady would encourage more men to take more responsibility in preventing those pregnancies that have ended in abortions.
