Letter: Donna Amaral, a proven professional for Westport Board of Health

To the editor:

"Among the decisions we face in the upcoming election is the composition of Westport’s Board of Health.  I believe that now, more than ever, we need a health care professional on our Board of Health.  Not simply to help manage Westport’s response to covid-19, but also to contribute a health care perspective when Westport addresses other important matters.

I support Donna Amaral, RN, for the open position on the Board of Health.  She has 40-plus years experience and has proven herself able to deal effectively with difficult issues and work collaboratively to find consensus solutions.

I encourage you to take the opportunity to vote by mail, and use your vote to help put Donna Amaral on the Board of Health. "

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
