Letter: Disgusted with the Barrington Republican Committee

To the editor:

I just want to express my disgust with the Barrington Republican Committee for their letter blaming President Trump and some other officials for the actions of a small handful of people who breached the Capitol.

Having said that, I believe that the actions of a few was despicable and it should have never happened!

I watched Trump’s speech and paraphrasing he said let’s go peacefully and support those lawmakers who are going to oppose votes in several states. Why would he not want to support those who support him. Unfortunately we saw what happened. Was there insufficient security? Did the Capitol Police stand down? Was Antifa involved? Were there Trump supporters who thought the election was stolen? Was there far right groups involved? Was it some or all of those that created the chaos that day? Time will tell. Just remember it wouldn’t take many people to start a riot when there is a large crowd and the crowd mentality sets in.

The President had every right to investigate that every legal vote was counted. The Democrats at first stated unequivocally that there was no fraud. Then they said well, there was some fraud. To finally saying there was fraud but not enough to overturn an election.

If there was any evidence of fraud should it be investigated or should it be ignored?

The Democrat Party filed several hundred lawsuits across the country changing voter laws prior to the election. There is one case from Pennsylvania that is still pending in the SJC and actually involved the Republican Majority in the legislature who supported changing mail-in ballots. That case is still in front of the SJC based on procedural issues.

Some of the laws that were changed included: No reason mail-in ballots, unsecured ballot drop off boxes, mail-in ballots to be received after Election Day and no signature verification and others.

Under the constitution it is the sole responsibility of the legislatures to create voter laws within their respective state. Quite frankly, the condemnation should have been directed at the legislatures of those states who allowed judges, governors, and secretaries of state to unilaterally change election laws that they had no right or authority to do so.

To this day there are states who are still reviewing and auditing the votes.

Democrat election officials in Maricopa County, Arizona for example were fighting Republicans Senators who requested all information dealing with the election so it could be audited. The Senate sued and it just settled that the information requested for the audit will be turned over. Other swing states are doing auditing as well.

Now whether they find that there was massive fraud or just a small amount of fraud, it will settle it once and for all! In the worst case scenario they may find that some of their election laws need to be tightened up such as requiring voter ID. Or maybe eliminating no reason mail-in ballots which allows for massive fraud as pointed by a bipartisan 2005 Commission on Federal Election Reform chaired by President Jimmy Carter and former Secretary of State James Baker III. “

This kind of action by the Republican Town Committee is a perfect examples of RINOs who have a knee jerk reaction without addressing all the facts. It’s no wonder that there is not one Republican on the Town Committee.

My question to the Republican Committee is this. How much voter fraud is acceptable to you?
