I find it troubling when candidates for public office refuse to debate their opponents or to participate in local forums.
Many voters learn about candidates through public discussion and all voters deserve to hear information about issues and opinions from those who want to represent them.
As a former lifelong resident of East Providence and proud Townie, I am puzzled by the decisions of John Peters in District 65 (against Matthew Dawson), Anthony Sionni in District 63 (against Katharine Kazarian) and Anna Maria Peters in District 18 (against Robert Britto) to decide NOT to participate in the scheduled forums sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Rhode Island and the East Bay Media Group.
