Letter: Can you help Tap-In so they can help others?

To the editor:

Sometimes unusual events call for unusual actions. Tap-In now finds itself in such a circumstance.

In the past, at this time of the year, the generous Barrington community has made in-kind donations of food and children’s gifts for our Thanksgiving and holiday programs. These programs have brought comfort and joy to many who need assistance. This year, with COVID 19 restrictions limiting our ability to put our hundreds of holiday baskets together, plus a significant increase in the number of families seeking help, we can only provide gift cards for both special occasions. We hope our community will help us again in this special effort in a very difficult time.

This year Tap-In asks that those persons and businesses contemplating in-kind donations to Tap-In’s holiday programs instead consider providing a charitable cash contribution. This will allow Tap-In to continue these seasonal programs in a different way. All cash donations will go to local families in need as gift cards, so they can purchase Thanksgiving and Holiday meals and gifts for their children.

Tap-In is very grateful for the continued generosity and solidarity of the Barrington Community which has helped us to “touch a person in need” for more than 35 years.

Tax-deductible contributions in any amount may be sent to Tap-In, P.O. Box 252, Barrington, RI 02806 or can be done on our website at www.tapinri.org.

With gratitude,

Tap-In Executive Committee
