To the editor:

The Mt. Hope Bridge is a classic. She is beautiful by day and beautiful by night. 

But there are even more beautiful lights at night than hers. 

We call those lights stars, set in the beauty of the night sky. 

Unfortunately, the stars are getting harder and harder to see. We do not need more light pollution to further despoil our night sky. Nor the waste in energy, the carbon emissions, and the maintenance. 

The Mt. Hope is just lovely as she is. She needs no more adornments. And certainly not to distinguish herself from the Pell bridge. She is distinct just as she is. 

And our night sky certainly doesn’t need more artificial light to obscure its beauty.
