Knitters warm kids' day with hats and mittens
Knitters made hats for students in East Bay Head Start program
Dozens of children in the Head Start program will be a little warmer this winter, after they were given hand-knit hats and mittens made by a group of local knitters.
The students are all enrolled in classes at the Mary V. Quirk School, through the East Bay Community Action Program. Volunteers brought in the hats and mittens just before Thanksgiving and left them out on tables, so students and their parents could choose which they liked best.
